Psalms 16:6 – “The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage“
A careful study of the verse above gives a clearer picture of what the Psalmist had in mind when he made this affirmative declaration. By saying “The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places,” he implied that there had been an apportioning of “property” but his own portion had a treasure in it. Now, this treasure was not oil, gold, diamond etc. It is the promise of eternal salvation. Overwhelmed with joy as a result of this discovery, he rejoiced that he had been given a goodly heritage; an awesome inheritance!
The Psalmist found out his inheritance was better than that of the others; but notice he didn’t have anything to do with the apportioning; he didn’t work for it! All he did was to accept and proclaim what he got. This is your story as a child of God. An awesome inheritance has been delivered to you; you’ve been brought into a large place of irreversible dominion of eternal glory and everything that pertains to life and godliness has been granted you in Christ Jesus”.
What you need is to do is learn more about your “goodly heritage”; your awesome inheritance in Christ. Just as you won’t find oil, gold or diamond on the surface, except you dig deeper into the earth, you have to dig deep into the Word of God to discover the treasures of your inheritance in Christ and appropriate them to your life and circumstances. Proclaim it and make it yours for His glory.
It’s a brand new day! Keep enjoying Kharis!
